As regards ancient perhaps Rome cannot equal Athens for beauty or Egypt for wonder but the ruins which remain today are very full of interest historically to the English nation.
The main object of interest is the "Forum of Julius Caesar", which implies the Forum with its Rostra or platforms, the Bascilica the Sacred Way or road between them, the Arch of Marcus Severus, the Arch of Titus, and the numerous temples such as Castor & Pollux, Neptune, Saturn Vesta.  The fine arches & the rostrums of the forum remain practically intact today, but otherwise it is mainly foundations only
