81 South Main St Bandon June 7th 1871

My dear Mrs Macarthur

I had the pleasure to receive yours of Decr 1870 & the accompanying photoph. of Mr Macarthur on 27th of Feby - It is a very pleasing likeness of my valued friend, & tho' I was 72 on the 1st of this month I hope you will be able, at some time, to send me yours, & those of my other friends at Camden park,  tho' you were not able to do so when you wrote.  I also recd the Sydney Mail of the previous 3rd Sep in the perusal of which I found great interest.  I would have written ere this, but was confined to my chair for 14 weeks, having hurt my leg, but am now nearly quite strong again; I wish I could say the same of my sight - dry eyes, particularly the right one continues much relaxed - could not read a line by Candle light during the winter & but little by daylight - so I passed a very lonely time of it - I intend going next week to Kinsale or some other place hoping the
