talkative, & my sister's daughters in law  are about opposites to each other. I have not seen much of Wiley, but I feel sure that no experience of his character will make me love him as I do dear Johnny.  There is perhaps too much of absurd nonsense in Johnny, but he is so sweet tempered, & so tender in his manner towards those belonging to him, that I am often quite touched

But to go on - the Middle people collected a good sum of money to get up a demonstration on Wiley's marriage. Of course these gatherings are partly for pleasure to themselves & much in honor of the Rector & his wife who spare no labour for the good of the Parish, & I was much gratified at the sight. There were all the usual country games - racing of all minor sorts, cricket, &c. & in the afternoon we were entertained at a tea drinking, & then a grand dance. Quadrilles were puzzled out & country dances raced through with amazing spirit
