25th Feby 1864

My dear William It seems strange to be writing to you & thinking that you will be at home to receive our letters - so quickly has the time sped along since your departure that I can't exactly believe you are within a month probably of the end of your voyage - I looked forward to it as such a very long [Indecipherable] Well I hope all has prospered that you & plants & cows & all have fared well - & that you will land safely & find all well at Camden - our late accounts are good as far as health goes - of course there can be no improvement in money matters - we must all be together again soon & put our shoulders to the wheel with our best energies & make things as straight as we can make them - James

war in Germany - I wish the Austrians & Prussians very little good particularly the latter - The Macleays have returned to London grumbling dreadfully at the cold. I think they will never be satisfied any where - they really were happier in Australia than they have been since. In [L?] [M?] is quite tired of his house - & talks of wandering again - he has purchased a Carriage for Australia - so I suppose he means soon to go out. The Therrys are at Paris - she starving herself during Lent - & he suffering from gout - Mr
