grafting at the vineyard & Blake putting all the Garden to rights - his crops "wont grow" & he looks in despair sometimes - He does not like me to think him unsteady, so has been very quiet & very civil lately - I do not know what McMahon is about - he seldom comes here - & I am told he is very cranky at home -
People about are all full of the coming races, which are very soon to equal Homebush - the race course is cleared & it will be a pretty place.
Poor old Mr Howe is gone to his rest - he has been ailing & half foolish for many months past - & I daresay the death of his son Edward reduced his failing senses considerably - Of other neighbours I know but little for I go out less than ever beyond a walk from home -
James has been to hear Miss Hayes who is again charming the Sydney folks, & he is as much charmed with her voice as they are.
