Unfortunately, the cohesion among the Singapore people has disappeared more and more. Many of those who in earlier years so often enjoyed my hospitality in Singapore I now hardly see anymore. They include Matthiessen, Häuel, Lehrenkrauss, Rotschildt, etc. Brennecke lamented a similar experience, so I guess it’s best to forget those people. How stupid really not to have kept to ourselves and how much money we could have saved! I always thought I could rely on some gratitude from those people, but how wrong my assumption has been!
