12/2/1916. Since January 23 we’ve had a rather tumultuous time because of a 14-day strike. Voluntary work in camp and yet a strike – should be impossible but became reality, it’s only possible in Australia. Shortly after the new election Gerbrecht and comrades proposed a plenary meeting that would demand the visit of the American consult via a petition signed by all camp inmates. Because the motion was carried by enough people, the committee reluctantly called the meeting for January 23.
