24/10/1915. It’s a year to the day that we have been interned and still no sign of an imminent release. We still do not receive any newspapers and do not know what exactly is happening in the world, but it looks like nobody back home is doing anything to get us released. Have they completely forgotten us? Can’t they understand that we, as feeling Germans, would like to do our bit in this giant fight? I cannot figure it out, but it seems to me that with a bit of determination, the government could have forced our release!
27/10/1915. I’m writing this on my dear wife’s birthday and my thoughts are particularly
focused on the homeland today. So many days already
