My dear Mrs. Macarthur
Many thanks for your affectionate letter just [indecipherable] you will all I am quite sure learn with regret that my dear dear Mother is fast sinking She has kept her bed [indecipherable] to day and the Dr. had to give her Morphine twice a day to kill the pain [indecipherable] with the trouble we are all in My heart is to full to write you a long letter but I know you will be anxious to hear from her, the pain she is suffering [indecipherable]
