is in a less painful position altho' now she has a splint from under her arm to her foot owing to her hip - the [indecipherable] being ulcerated - nobody knows how long that will last. She has been in bed ever since December - I hope she may begin to write me pencil notes again poor dear - her position was such that she could not write for some time - I have left the last two she wrote me at home & would send them - however Phils last note was quite cheerful - the nurse had come & was a great comfort to Mary & had a good night - I hope she may not go on suffering, or that she may die - I cannot wish her to live in great suffering - only an anxiety to her husband & no help to her family. I am thankful dear Sister Mary
