My dear Mother,
Max has a tent & yesterday I went down with him to the bush near Balmoral for half the day.   We put up the tent & had much fun.  In the We are going down for the hole day tomorrow. On saturday evening we had acting & resiting  There were ten children.  As you are asking Lorna & Mardie up could I ask Max up he would bring up his tent & the fly (the tent cost [21s?] altogether) & a few blanckerts.  We could pitch it just outside your room.
I was glad to see you got 11½ d for the wool.  That cake you sent down was lovely.  I will be a year older tomorrow morning. Our school breaks up on the 19th December & we go back on the [indecipherable] Feb.  Aunt Katie said Max is a nice little boy, so will you give me an answer as he might go out some where else.  I like max Allworth's sister very much
