[Thursday 16 March]

Off to France & Fortune,

Midst Sorrow, Pain & Death.
Our hearts  blood for our country
A cheer with our dying breath.

We are quietly preparing for moving. The absence of all excitement is astonishing.

One would think to look at our [indecipherable] that we were just about to tackle a short route march instead of the final stage of our long journey, from which few may emerge unscathed but we have seen our share of war & are ready for anything they care to hand  out.

Experience has taught us that a heavy pack is the very duce  when you are on the move, consequently we have dumped many a thing with a heavy heart for the sake of our backs.

Moved from Moaska [Moascar] Camp at 8.45. p.m.
