[Monday 19 June]

I am cook today, we only had two meals, one at 1 p m & the other at about 7.30.p m, we did not get up till about 12 o'clock.

It was my turn to go for rations, nearly a mile each way. Coming back I ran into the outskirts of a German bombardment of our communication trenches & had to take shelter for a while. When I got back to Emma [?] I was just in time to sit throug another. I have seen enough shells to last for some time, two bombardments in two nights is not bad going.

I got to bed at 1.30 AM & do not intend to get up too early in the morning either.
