[Sunday 23 April]
Thank the lord I am being sent on today to one of our hospitals.
We left Baillule [Bailleul] at about 12.30 & had a run into Belgium to pick up some more patients we went from Hazebrouk [Hazebrouck] over the border past a couple of small towns to Poperinghe [Poperinge] from there we returned to Hazebrouk [Hazebrouck]. We left Hazebrouk [Hazebrouck] again at about 4 p.m. & went through St Omar [Saint-Omer] & Calais to a place called Etaples where we had to stay for the night. We go on to Havre [Le Havre] tomorrow.
We were starved on the train as the boilers burst in the kitchen & we had next to nothing to eat.
Our conversation with the French people is very funny. We speak in French & they in English, both being proud of our accomplishments. Though they speak better English than we do French- as yet.
