March 1773 - Rotterdam
7. Got up this morn & saw the Bourse or Exchange a neat building not so large but I think much prettier than that at Amsterdam from there we went to the famous brass statue of Erasmus a fine piece of work certainly but too much extolled in my humble opinion by far at least I was disapointed.
From there we went to see a collection of Birds the property of a Mr Heavant it was not large but well prepared & elegantly set up the most curious one was a Pintado or guinea hen spots were blue and had a tuft of feathers instead of a horny knob upon its head the sun bird was also here a very singular genus I think brought from the brazils which is here classd as an ardee.
After sauntering about the town the rest of the morning we dined with Mr. Manson a very agreeble & ingenious man Mr Bentink came to town by accident & intending to return at night we took advantage of his barge & passing through Delft arrived at the Hague about ½ past 10 o'clock.
