suffice it only to say that on each window is an incription signifying by what crownd head abbot or bishop the window was given to frequently the portrait of the donor the figures are in some places larger than life & clothd in garments of exquisitely bright coloured nothing struck me so much as the representation of the Clear azure sky seen through a window or large open door nor could any thing better resemble an other than the transparent blue of the glass did the finest sky that can be imagined the flesh & faces of the figures were generaly shaded in Claro obscuro as our modern glass is done only in a far preferable stile even of design.

From hence we went to the manufacturer of Tobacco pipes which is here carried on in a very large stile   after the clay was moulded something like the shape of a pipe the maker thrust a wyer into & through the whole length of it holding the clay in his hand. which
