The Hague

did not tire me tho the room was terribly Cold he shewd many species of shells which I had never seen before most of these Engraved in the new plates of Argenvile [d'Argenville] several of which are still unique Cedo nulli univalve & cedo nulli bivalve upon the whole I must say that his Cabinet is excessively fine tho it has not one large shell in it I suppose because they did not look well in drawers where they could be arranged so prettily as the smaller ones.  After we had done we receivd a little hint that the Cabinet might be bought for 2500 pounds, he shewd us also a book of Shells very well drawn in Colours of 160 peices [pieces] for which the man who drew them askd 210 pounds but never being able to get it died about 15 years ago & left it to Mr. Lyonet.

Lyonet himself is by the account I have heard of him one of the most extraordinary men living he is now 70 years old & values himself
