Feb, 1773 - The Hague

architecture what sort of rooms they have I confess I cannot tell for tho I livd constantly in Count Bentinks house I never was in more than two rooms a small ill furnished dining room with a hair cloth instead of a carpet & Mrs. Bentinks Bedchamber where we used to breakfast.  I once was carried into a room neither large or well furnished which seemed to be little usd as the floor was strewd with skins of Zebras &c which seemd to be put there out of the way yet this house had 14 windows in front.

For their Eating we livd very well a good variety of Plain & welld repd victuals great part of which was fish with very few high seasond dishes our wines were neither much varied nor good of their kinds yet by no means the worst.

The Hague is calld from the wood in its neighbourhood which usd to be a hunting place of the Counts of Holland Haga [Hagae] Comitum or the Parck [Park] of the Counts the country round
