was my turn now to give something towards the amusement of the society they began to question me about the effects of the fine engine in draining of marshes in vain did I declare that I had never heard of that engine being applied to such purpose they still persisted in wishing to be informed how many tons of water a cylinder of such dimentions could lift in a minute or a strike to the hight of six feet twas impossible for me to answer so I was again consulted about the dimensions of the Cylinders & quantity of water they discharged & the hights lifted in mines, here I could give rather better account but as most of the questions could only be answerd by remembering a certain number of inches gallons Tons &c., I confess of all things the most difficult in my mind to embrace I was I believe dismissed as an incorrigible blackhead.
