to London

The whole town of Colchester bears marks of great antiquity many of the houses are ornamented with carving in wood & figures in Plaister of a very antique taste it is larger & stragling at present the cheif support is derivd from the systems which are fed in the River I am told about 6 miles below the town I am told it has manufacturd some bays but little now is done in that way.

From Colchester we arrivd at Maningtree where we slept at night & the next day arrivd by noon in London (22) after as lazy a Journey as indolence itself could devise ever since we landed on English ground to make some amends for our Fatigues in the Land of Frogs & mud.
