AUSTRALIAN MERINO SHEEP.
Descended from the pure Spanish Merino Sheep imported into New South Wales by Captain MACARTHUR in 1797 and 1804; taken overland to Victoria by Mr. WILLIAM CAMPBELL in 1846, and imported into England by him in 1885, and now on Mr. FINLAY CAMPBELL'S Estate of Brantridge Park, Sussex.
Have always been kept pure and free of any other blood, and so are bred "in and in" for nearly a century, and it is believed in Spain for several centuries.
Have not deteriorated in size from the original breed in Spain, but by selection their wool has been improved.
Many of the best flocks in Victoria were improved by the introduction of rams from this flock.
