Dr Crusius's Brother in law, kindly accompanied me to the Wool sorting warehouse of Messrs Sievers & Co, one of the largest Establishments in Leipzig. With the exception of a few small bundles of combing wool, there is not a fleece in this Warehouse, & Mr Sievers assures me, there is none at any of the Warehouses in Leipzig.

Saw a variety of Samples, some of them very beautiful, & some skin wool, with quite the healthy appearance of fleece wool. It is washed, & suffered to dry on the Animal's back, before it is shorn. This is a recent discovery of Mr Sievers. He thinks the German flocks are in general deteriorating, from inattention to purity of blood. Some of the large Silesian
