per Annum. 8 fleeces weigh 22 lbs. The price obtained last Summer was 9 Thalers the 22 lbs about 1s/3d per lb. 1000 Sheep require three men, who receive £7 per Annum Wages, & their provisions: The head Shepherd has the privilege of keeping 50 Ewes of his own, with the flock, free of expense. Rams from this Flock are sold at from £3 to £7, but are now little in demand.
Land rents for about 10s/ per Acre.
Leipsig. 19th Decr
Visited the Farm of Mr Frege, the Banker. - His Flock consists of only 150 Ewes, of middling quality, & great diversity of character. The Shepherd says they reared 146 Lambs last Year. They receive 1 lb of hay each per diem, and Straw. ad libitum. They look healthy & in sufficient condition. The
