leaves by falling into the water, impart this quality to it, and render it unfit for Sheep washing. It gives to wool a blue, cloudy appearance.

The same remark applies to water, which flows thro' Forests, the trees of which like Oak & other such woods are of an astringent quality.

The number of times, at the final washing, it may be necessary to pass Sheep thro' this water, observation and experience will teach. It depends upon circumstances, & frequently upon the state of the Water itself.
