Mr Meyer's 1000 Sheep require three Shepherds throughout the Year, Two of them receive about £3..15. 0 per Annum in Wages, besides their board and lodging. The Head Shepherd receives in addition to this 2½d upon each Lamb weaned. Upon 300 Lambs, this would be about £3..5.. making his wages in all, from £7 to £8 Sterling per Annum. In Saxony, and Silesia, Mr Meyer believes the wages to be higher.
The System of washing is very similar to that followed in New South Wales. The Sheep are soaked in the Stream early in the morning , and washed afterwards, during the heat of the day:
