The Average weights of his flock, are as follow - Ewes 1¾ lbs - Rams and Wethers 2½ lbs - Lambs 1 lb.
The Ewe's fleeces are the finest, next the Rams, & last the Wethers.
The full grown Sheep are shorn in May, and the beginning of June,
The Lambs drop in February, & are shorn in July - Mr Von Planitz is trying a few experiments, to induce a race, producing long wool, but is aware of the danger of carrying this too far, as the demand for such Wool, is liable to great fluctuation, from the uncertainty of fashion. He complains much of present prices, which, he says, barely pay the grower.

Mr Schutze has a very fair cross bred flock, of 1000 Sheep, at his Estate of Schweta, near Ochatz, where I have been staying with him, during the last two days.
