The inferior qualities of combing Wool are the scarcest.

The Manufacture of Woollens, is gradually increasing, throughout Germany, whilst the growth of fine Wool, appears to be nearly stationary, except in Prussia; but in Prussia, the Manufacture of Cloth is also rapidly increasing. There is a great prejudice in England against Austrian and Polish Wools, on account of their being usually harsh to the touch. In Germany, they are not disliked by the Manufacturers.

Prince Esterhazy's Flocks, consist of 300,000 Sheep. They are very fine. Last year, his Wool averaged nearly 2s/ a lb. Formerly it was calculated, that each Sheep returned the Proprietor, a nett profit of 1s/6d per annum. Now, probably, they do not return more than 1s/-
