1st Day towards Evening throw the sheep into the Water, & Swim them carefully through the Canal, along which they are guided by men on the banks, who have long forks for the purpose to embrace the Sheeps neck (shaped Y thus. When they do not follow of their own accord, they are passed from one man to the other gently, until they reach the end of the Canal (A) where two men in the water assist them up the bank. As fast as the Sheep leave the Basin and Swim into the Canal (into which they must be guided) others are thrown in, so as to keep up a continued and uninterupted succession of them. Because if too many are thrown at a time into it, there is a danger of their being drowned before assisted
