They now shamelessly voice their colonial aspirations and the French minister Ribot didn’t think twice about declaring that Alsace-Lothringen has to be returned to France at all cost. As long as such ideas continue to lurk in the minds of the French, there can be no hope of peace, which even the German socialists seem to realise. The “Vorwärts” answered Ribot with the following, according to Reuters: [begin English quote]</p><p>Minister Ribot knows very well that even after 3 years of this terrible war Germany does not think of purchasing peace at such a price. The war must last 3 years more before a clear settlement appears and even then it is doubtful whether the decision will please Ribot. [end English quote]</p><p>I’m very pleased about such language, because if that is the mood among the German working class, we will achieve the ultimate victory.</p>
