If we manage to prop up a Polish empire with some Russian territories and thus create a buffer zone against any colonialist ideas of a Greater Russia, Germany can only profit. But will the Polish people, who have almost never in their history experienced inner peace, be ready for independence after such a long oppression by Russia?</p><p>While our diplomacy has delivered little good news, all the more has been achieved by our armed forces and the German people in general. Victory chases victory, and if our troops have to retreat, it is usually because they’re faced with far superior numbers or for strategic reasons. No wonder then that our generals, officers and soldiers are nearly idolised and that no sacrifice for their cause seems too big. Despite the general lack of almost everything, huge donations of various kinds are being made, and just how willing the people are, be they rich or poor, can be seen in the colossal amounts invested in war bonds.</p>
