It meddles in our submarine war but lets England search American mailbags and steamships without a protest. Truly American sophism! But why do the millions of Germans who live in the United States not speak up for their former fatherland? Are they already so estranged, or do they care more for their money than for anything else?</p><p>They say that on December 13, there were food riots in Hamburg that claimed 1000 lives. In Lübeck and Stettin, near-starved women and children allegedly wait for the incoming ships to beg for food. Probably all stories made up to mask the Entente’s own problems.</p><p>3/1/1917.<br />The New Year has arrived very quietly.
