But how desolate it is for us to be sitting here and not being able to help.</p><p>30/9/17.<br />From a military perspective, the past month has not brought much change, except for a sudden thrust on our part into Russia, which yielded the capture of Riga with apparently little bloodshed. The Russian troops are not able anymore to put up much resistance, especially since the Russian government is battling new unrests that make its position more and more tenuous.</p><p>Our diplomatic skills, unfortunately, have been shown to be rather poor by a series of publications by the Americans. These revelations leave no doubt that the correspondence of our envoys in Argentina, Mexico and Washington has been intercepted for some time now by the American secret service and that they succeeded in decoding our telegrams. Our envoy in Argentina, Count Luxburg , sent some of his dispatches via the Swedish legation in Buenos Aires, which means that Sweden has breached neutrality rules.
