[Page 38]

27/2/17.
In Russia in recent weeks, a strong revolutionary movement emerged which however seems to have been quashed for the time being. After all the mishaps and the downright failure of the Russian “steamroller”, not to mention the reoccurrence of colossal misappropriations [could also be ‘suppression’] it would be highly understandable if people had enough of the war and would just want it to end.

The English have now reached a new height of impertinence by no longer respecting the principle of diplomatic immunity when the German envoy Bernstorff transited Hallifax [Halifax] on the Danish steamship Frederik VII, and searching his private belongings. Naturally, they were looking for classified documents but don’t seem to have found any, because the English authorities were frustrated enough to allegedly confiscate hundreds of pyjamas and gramophone records found in B.’s luggage. How petty people can be, and what colossal outrage it is to search the private belongings of a German diplomat with an English passport on a Danish ship.
