All three incidents are extremely embarrassing.</p><p>Our diplomats overseas must know that during a war they will be surrounded by spies who are given plenty of money to bribe dubious characters. At any rate, the actions in each case betray a carelessness and imprudence that none of our diplomats should be guilty of. Since the newspapers give detailed accounts [of these incidents], one cannot really question their veracity, and I&rsquo;m just left wondering how anything like this is possible. The mistakes of these diplomats and the short-sightedness of the government at home in the matter of electoral reforms do not bode well for the future.</p><p>In Poland, however, it seems that an agreement with Austria has been reached, because a Polish interim government has been installed. The Polish dream of an independent state may thus finally become reality after this war</p>
