[end English quote]</p><p>It is very unfortunate, and for us internees extremely depressing and demoralising, to see how in times of war the leaders of a nation &ndash; and Reichstag representatives are leaders to a certain extent &ndash; can launch such attacks against the Kaiser. Such incidents greatly please our enemies and give them hope that Germany will be weakened by internal strife. Of course, people do carry a heavy burden and make many sacrifices and I can understand that many are unhappy, and that the Socialists in particular will try to use this to further their cause. But it is definitely not patriotic, and given that the gentlemen originally expressed their agreement by approving the war funds,</p>
