At 10 we set out again in our track scuit [trekschuit - tug boat] a method of traveling most convenient & cheap.  A cabbin which would hold 8 people better than a coach will 4 in it a table & good seats cost us from Leyden to Harlem 1 gilder [guilder] 1 stiver for 2 stivers more we had a stove with fire & they would have provided a tallow candle had we not chose [chosen] to burn wax of our own besides the priveledge of this cabbin we each paid 14½ stivers for our places & 8 for our baggage so that for 9 shillings & a penny we 4 & our baggage were transported 4 hours or 16 miles.

from Harlem to Amsterdam was 8 miles or 2 hours we paid for the roof 16 stivers & for each person 6.
