little strengh but which carries a governor who receives a pretty comfortable salary they shewd me the whole of this clumsey peice of Fortification which however was in tolerable order.
The children here presented us with small peices of pretty clear amber which is pickd up on the coast here in so large quantities that I bought about a quarter of a pound for sixpence.
21. set out this morn for London resolving to travel very slow dind at Colchester upon oysters & saw the Castle a building of Great antiquity in ruins which however has been repaird & particularly one of the rooms which is fitted up as the meeting room of a club of Gentlemen of the Countrey who meet once a week is certainly the most convenient of any thing of the kind I have seen as besides the conveniencies they have a tolerable library of old Books.
