At any rate, it was very clever to pick that hill for the cemetery. In front of it the wide expanse of the ocean, all around peace and quiet, and just the occasional cry of a seagull to break the silence and to interrupt the sleep of death. If the place were in Germany, I would prefer it as my last resting ground to an overcrowded churchyard cemetery. Given the circumstances, however, it is rather sad to bury the ambitions and hopes of a German after years of a successful career in the East in such foreign soil, and out of captivity.
