The rowing boat for it, however, was not approved, and so the gentlemen are now trying desperately to work the thing from the shore, hoping to outwit the fish. The casting and pulling-in of the net are a colossal effort; the last few minutes of the pulling-in never fail to attract a large crowd of spectators from the camp. The catch, although often just a miserable 1-2 pieces, is always greeted with a big hooray. Unfortunately, the frequent activity in the ocean, and the daily refuse that flows into it, has attracted a large number of sharks, making it necessary to post a guard at the end of the mole who has to alert us if any of the pirates approaches. An interesting catch recently was a type of salmon, although twice as big as the Rhine salmon, which they call Bonito here.
