June 25th I am taken Ill and laid up by Doctor. I am to be sent home from Sierra Leone as I am seriously ill.

July 9th Arrived at Sierra Leone I am transferred to the "Mantua" the "Orama" leaves for Halifax the "Mantua" leaves on July 11th in Charge of Convoy we hand over the Convoy to 8 destroyers 400 miles from Plymouth we proceed at full speed and Zig Zag our way to Plymouth we have £4 000 000 worth of Bullion also from Capetown we arrive safely on Aug 1st.

Oct 28th. the "Orama" was convoying 7 ships of slow speed from Halifax to Plymouth it happens that the destroyer missed them at the appointed place so the "Orama" Continued on with the Convoy a submarine picked her out between the two lines of ships she was hit the torpedo struck forward of the stoke hold entered one of the Bunkers she soon filled with water and with the
