Feb 29th We arrive off the Amazon River nothing can be done as the Rainy season has set in it has obscured the Coast we cannot pick up our bearings.
March 7th Stopped some few miles from Amazon River to Repair Condensers.
March 8th We must be near the Amazon River now as the discoloration of the water shows, the force of the river discolors the water 70 to 80 miles from the Mouth of the River. the Captain will not venture into the RIver the Rain is very thick.
March 9th Make for Collier which is some 400 miles distant sight ship at Daybreak give chase. she also puts on a spurt we fire a shot across her bows she soon pulls up. board her she flies the Rio Ensign and named "San Sylvester" an Oil tanker in light trim About Midday board another ship flying the Stars and Stripes named Californian still raining in torrents
