in the background which adds to the beauty of the Harbour. as we enter the harbour we are greeted by a sea plane which flies very close to us he gives us a wave as he passes we are also greeted by one of the big Brazilian battleships laying at anchor of the town they dip their Ensign we return it. A Party goes on shore including myself the town is beautifully laid out the main Avenidas are wide the footpaths are all black and white Mosaic paving all the Cafes have their tables and chairs spread under the trees on the wide footpath we find it hard to find our way about very few people speak English as compared with the other South American states In every hotel and restaurant they employ somebody who speaks English. we leave Rio at night for our anchorage
Dec14th. News has been received of a German Raider has been sighted by a be Belgian steamer
Dec16th. we leave with "Macedonia" to search for Raider.
Dec 21st Still sweeping for Raider we are making towards St Pauls Rocks
