Feb 14th "Glasgow" sights burning ship makes off to investigate the Collier also sights something and makes back to it they find it [is] a life boat with all sails set and abandoned.
Feb16th Put into Pernambuco and leave same day.
Feb 17th Join Glasgow and Collier we go to anchorage and coal
Feb 22nd Part company with "Glasgow" we proceed towards the Equator we start Coaling at sea as the ship moves slowly keeping head on to swell there has been a huge shark 13 or 14 ft long lounging about the ship all day
Feb 23rd Still Coaling at sea putting in 300 tons a day & send Collier away the shark is still with us.
Feb 25th Put in to "Ceara" on the North Coast of South America for information Concerning the Raider. leave at 5 p.m. to sweep the Mouth of the Amazon River
