Dec 25th A very Quiet Xmas we expected to have this Xmas ashore we are about due for our outfit

Dec 31st Put into "Pernambuco" took on stores also took passenger Cpt[Captain] Arnold Forster who is to relieve the Captain of the Macedonia.

Jan 2nd [1917] arrive back at Rendezvous.

Jan 3rd. A Marine groping about in the dark in the Course of his duties fell down No 3 hold used as a bunker, one of the hatches being left off for Ventilation, he struck a beam in his fall and was killed instantaneously they Held the usual Auction sale of his effects by the aid of which   £260 was gathered and given to his aged mother.

Jan 7th. We have found no search trace of the Raider Our ships are too big for the job the fact is she can see us long before we can see her giving her a decided advantage

Jan 11th Ships return to rendezvous   the Raider came up to the "Amethyst's" Colliers and took it during the night  used the coal and sunk her
