Dec 25th A very Quiet Xmas we expected to have this Xmas ashore we are about due for our outfit

A Marine groping about in the dark in the Course of his duties fell down No 3 hold used as a bunker, one of the hatches being left off for Ventilation, he struck a beam in his fall and was killed instantaneously they Held the usual Auction sale of his effects by the aid of which £260 was gathered and given to his aged mother.
