Dec 19th Anchored in Straits 30 miles from the Pacific picked up another Collier "Pensilva" "Kent" and her Collier joins us at dusk we leave to go to a Rendezvous amongst some Islands in Pacific the Rendezvous is called Vallinar Roads [Vallenar]. One of the prettiest places we have seen so far beautiful glaciers and snow clad mountains surround us and the sun has just sufficient warmth to make one feel happy. The last few miles of the Magellan straits on the Pacific side on passing thro'   you come across a huge stone Crucifix on a Prominent headland. It is Erected by the Chilians as a blessing to all Mariners who pass it, like wise you pass a cross going in to all South American Ports.

Dec 23rd Arrived at Vallinar Roads with "Kent" the "Glasgow" and "Bristol" already there with  their Colliers a most ideal spot animal and bird life in abundance wild Geese
