I have omitted to notice, amongst other causes of the deterioration of the German Flocks, the introduction of the Negretti race. The Wool of this race of Merinos, is of very inferior quality. They are easily distinguishable, by their coarseness of Shape - large dewlaps, & wrinkles, or rather, ample folds in the skin. Some years since, there was quite a rage amongst the German Sheep Owners, for Rams of the Negretti breed and the mischief, which has thus been done, to the Saxon Flocks Flocks, is incalculable
