16 Thales the Bundle, or about 2s/2d per lb. The price of the Wool from the finest Electoral flocks, was about 24 Thalers the 22 lbs, or 3s/3d per lb. In those flocks, from 12 to 18 fleeces would be required to make up that weight.

2nd January 1830.

Visited Gersdorf, near Pirna, the Country residence of General de Leyser. The General's flock consists of 1500, of which 800, (the best) are at Gersdorf - the remainder on another Estate. The fleeces of some Individuals are very beautiful; but upon the whole, this flock, which I had heard much praised, fell short of my expectations. The General is endeavouring, by crossing the Escurial and the Leones races, to combine extreme fineness with weight.
