Prices of Shearing as follows. Rams 1½d each. Ewes & Wethers 1d. Lambs ¾d each. From 10 to 15 Sheep a day, shorn by each person.
The fleeces are then classed by the head Shepherd & Superintendent, and put up in Schoefer bands, or bundles, consisting of eight fleeces each; and packed at once, upon the green sward where they are shorn, into large Bags; in which State, they are conveyed for Sale to Leipsig, or some of the other Wool fairs - unless, as is frequently the case, they should be purchased on the spot by some Agent, who is acquainted with the character of the Flock.
The Bundle of 8 Sheep's fleeces, in Mr Schutze's flock, weighs 22 lbs on an average. This is the weight by which the Germans always sell their Wool. Last year he obtained
