The axis of the Tread Wheel is thrown out of the perpendicular, so as to enable the Animals to tread upon a slightly inclined surface. So trifling is the exertion required from the Animals, that fattening Oxen are employed. They are tied to a rack & manger, & feed very contentedly, whilst the wheel turns, under the pressure of their feet.

Diameter of the Tread Wheel, 36 feet. Inclination of axis. 8 degrees from the perpendicular. I could not obtain any samples of the wool - nor can I remember the proprietors name, which is a very singular one.
