22nd Decr Machon 16 miles from Leipsig
A flock of some repute, the finest woolled, decidedly, that I have yet seen is kept here. It consists of 1100 Sheep. Five Men are employed in their care. The Stabling & all the arrangements appear to be excellent. The proprietor complains much of the present low prices.
He considers 270 Lambs to 300 Ewes, & 2 lbs of Wool to each Sheep an excellent average produce. The expense of each Sheep per Annum, without including interest of original Capital, & buildings, varies from 2s/ to 3s/ making an average of 2s/6d.
